Championship Game for the U16’s against the Mid Fairfield Stars from Connecticut. They had beat them already but over the year had lost to them. Today the scoring would start on an penalty kill at 6 min and 10 seconds into the first period. The second goal would also come on a penalty kill withjust 29 seconds left in the first period.
Three minutes and 11 seconds into the 2nd period they would make it 3-0 With less than 5 minutes left to go in the period and in the last second of the 5-3 penalty kill the Stars would notch their first goal. Third period the Stars were catching up with the SOG now 20-15, they poped another one in to bring the game within 1 point. With 4:-7 left in the game and pounding away at their net a loose puck was popped in to make it 4-2. They would pull the goalie and almost resulted in a another goal, but the U16 Mass Spitfires would hold on to win their first National Championship against the NE Team 4-2.
