Game 2 vs. Thayer this year, our first meeting gave Thayer its only loss and this one was tense and both teams determined. The first goal of the game came with a crowd in front of Thayer’s net and Southfield going up 1-0 at 4:20 in the first period. Southfield would strike again on a power play with just over 4 minutes left in the period and take a 2-0 lead to the locker room. Second period, 3-0 at the 44 second mark, soon to be followed by Thayer’s only goal to make it 3-1 at 5:08. With 32 seconds left Southfield would punch one home and take a commanding 4-1 lead back to the locker room. With 1:11 to go and two Southfield players in the box, Thayer would pull the goalie and put the pressure on with a 6 on 3 to no avail. Southfield would sweep Thayer this year with a 4-1 win in game 2.
