Hamilton vs. Amherst Friday Nov 15, 2013
“Last First Game” for the seniors at home in front of one of the biggest crowds of “Lobster trappers” and definitely the loudest. Not going to talk about the first period because that is history! Start of the 2nd period Hamilton down 1-0. The Continentals came out strong, with some confident passing and good work all around they would strike home on a sweet goal just over 3 minutes into the period. The crowd goes wild and we would watch the Amherst girls get frustrated and go to the box and set up the first power play goal of the season an a blast from the point by a freshman. 2-1 Hamilton. Then, the worst thing that can happen the refs split the decision on the next goal. Goalie down, puck hits top post and the goal is called off by one of the 4 refs (see picture 766) because of Hamilton player in the crease. We still take the lead 2-1 with and edge on the shots to the locker room.
3rd period Amherst would answer with 3 goals to our one in a fairly evenly played period and the home opener would end with a 4-3 loss but from what we saw tonight we have some good hockey to look forward to this season. Can’t wait to see #22 and #23 back on the ice.
