Hamilton vs. Amherst @ Amherst NESCAC Qtr Finals 2013
Girls looked pumped to play as they did their pre-game work out they were all in good moods and excited to play. The girls came out but the Amherst girls contained the play in our end and started very efficiently stuffing our break out and cycling the puck well. The first goal for Amherst came from a pass behind the net and it was one timed into the net. It happened so quick, our goalie never saw it coming. They would go up 2-0 and the Continental still had not got a rhythm going for the game and only register 2 SOG in the first.
Second period play the girls came out much more prepared, got a rhythm going and outshot the Effs 10-9 but could not find the back of the net. In the third it seemed like just one goal would get the girls going and spark the comeback, they got that goal with over 13 minutes to play. Rang the door bell several times but were silenced about 10 minutes later when Amherst made it 4-1. Top that off with an open netter on a power play and that’s a wrap for the season. Hamilton ties the all time record for season wins. Finished with a very respectable record and some of the player finished high in the NESCAC ranks. What a great year.. Good Luck to the other NESCAC teams in the playoffs and the Nationals..
