Rage at Sage part 2, after the presentation of flowers to the seniors and their parents and the pledge of allegiance sung by an Alumni the stage was set for the rematch vs. Bowdoin. I heard that the continentals have yet to beat Polar Bears in sage. With just under 3 min to go on a beautiful goal that pulled the goalie out of her net we were up 1-0 and off to a great start Quickly we had 8 shots on net to Bowdoin’s 2. Then that seemed to swing and back even on the shot clock as our momentum waned at the tail end of the period The teams took to the locker room with SOG 9-8 advantage to Bowdoin.
Second period play started with a 4 on 4 as the penalties had started. They headed off to the locker room at the end of second all tied on the shot clock and both goalies played extremely well. The power play and penalty kill squads got plenty of work. Hamilton took 5 penalties in the last two periods and Bowdoin only two, but in the third on a power play that would be enough as the Continentals take the lead 2-1. Bowdoin pulled their goalie coming down to the wire and kept the play in our end and on a pop up getting the puck out of the zone, it seemed to be almost dead in their zone and seemed to pick up speed as the Bowdoin defenseman started to chase it down as it crossed the goal line for the open netter just as she caught it. 3-1 hard fought win for the continentals as they lock up 5th place in the NESCAC standings for now.
