It did not take long to see how this game was going to go for the refs. Not sure exactly how the first goal went in, but it seemed like Conn set up camp in the crease and the scrum in font of the net resulted in the first goal of the game at 1:28. The bounces seemed to be going Conn’s way sometimes with a little help as they spread the lead to two with just under 13 min of play. Then with 5:59 left in the game, shot from the point into the crowd and a redirect or two the lead would be cut. Finally some pay off for the huge effort the girls were putting out. Then less than two minutes later another breakdown and Conn took advantage and it was now a 3-1 game. One more time and Conn takes the 4-1 lead into the locker room.
Second period was scoreless for Conn with our SOG almost non-existent, but we did manage to come out on top with a loose puck in front of their net The fans were loud and Blue stepped up the game but it did not result in many good scoring chances. The penalties were missed on both side, and some called on both side, some of them looked like make up calls. End of second the lead is cut to two.
The third period our girls slowed a bit but the energy level was still high. It never looked like they gave up. The last 4 minutes there were 3 penalties called, two on them and one on us. Our goalie was out of the net for a good portion of this. With 6 seconds left on their first penalty the Power Play would deliver one to put us within 1 goal, but they were not able to put the tying goal in before the clock ran out.
